Medieval Erice: Among Castles, Gardens, and Breathtaking Views

Erice is a place suspended between history and the sky, a medieval village overlooking Trapani from a height of 750 meters. Strolling through its narrow stone streets, you can breathe in an ancient atmosphere, steeped in myths and legends, which culminates in the majestic Castle of Venus. The nearby Balio garden, with the Norman tower of Pepoli—now transformed into an elegant resort—offers one of the most breathtaking views in Sicily, where the panorama embraces the sea, islands, and endless horizons.

Reaching Erice is easy and an experience in itself: you can comfortably take the cable car from Trapani, which offers spectacular views during the ascent, or arrive by car or bus along the scenic road that climbs up the mountain. Whatever means of transport you choose, it’s definitely worth a visit.

And to round off the day, there is one ritual that cannot be missed: tasting the famous Genovesi di Erice. We highly recommend the Grammatico pastry shop, where, in our opinion, you can find the best genovesi in the world. A simple, perfect dessert that encapsulates the essence of this enchanted village.
